Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Ventilation
R22 System Phase Out
From 1st January 2015 it will be illegal to use any HCFC’s to service air conditioning equipment and recycled or reclaimed HCFC may no longer be used.
The regulation (EC) 517/2014 bans re-gassing equipment on banned refrigerant R22 gas.
This means that it is permissible to continue using air conditioning system that contains the banned HCFC’s beyond the 1st January 2015.
If you have a system that runs on R22, please contact us for advice or a free quotation to replace the current system(s) on 01442 234088.
Since July 2007, the new F-gas legislation rules that installations must be regularly checked for leaks and adequately maintained by a qualified engineer – our air conditioning service provides maintenance contracts which will cover all regulatory obligations.
From the 1st January 2015, operators of equipment that contains fluorinated greenhouse gases in quantities of 5 tonnes of CO2 equivalent or more need to ensure that the equipment is checked for leaks.
Each refrigerant gas has a different quantity of gas which relates to the equivalent of 5 tonnes of CO2. Please contact us and we will carryout the calculation and confirm whether your system needs to be leak tested by law.
The EU has now published a Regulation detailing accepted methods of leak detection, maintaining of records, systematic leak detection and repair of leaks.
